The Philippine Association of School Librarians, Inc. successfully conducted a seminar-forum on Media Literacy and School Library Standards in Miriam College High School last October 13, 2011. The seminar aimed to develop in school librarians the skills necessary in evaluating, collecting and producing media resources. It also served as a forum for the discussion on the recently released DepEd Order no. 56, s.2011 regarding the Standards for Philippine School Libraries. Two of the leading school librarians in the country, Ms. Delia Hernandez (president of PAME) and Ms. Elizabeth Peralejo (former member of PRC-Board for Librarians) were the guest speakers. Benchmarking visit to the LMCs of the basic education units of Miriam College followed in the afternoon. It was attended by 64 school librarians from both private and public schools around Metro Manila and neighboring cities.
