Pilar Perez is considered a pioneer in the successful development and promotion of children’s libraries in the country. She was a librarian at the Arellano High School when her expertise extended to the founding and first leadership of the Philippine Association of School Librarians back in 1977.
She was the 1990 achievement awardee of the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) for her exemplary pioneering efforts in developing a model children’s library and in honing young readers.
